Oh so Oxford.  Currently you can be penalised for not wearing the correct, gendered sub-fusc.  No one seems entirely sure whether trans* people can choose which sub-fusc they should be wearing, or whether they should wear the sub-fusc that corresponds with their legal gender, or gender according to the university, or what.

We think that anyone should be able to choose which sub-fusc they wear.  We’re not suggesting getting rid of it, just removing any reference to gender in the regulations — so someone seemingly female would be allowed to wear a bow tie, if they wanted, and not suffer fines or expulsion from exams for it.

It may seem a slightly silly thing to worry about, but anything which defines your gender — and this does very specifically — can be a thorn in the side.
